Rourke, Joyce and Gannon have revealed their new project, several days after teasing images suggesting a new “Smiths” project was underway, they are going to perform the hits of the Smiths accompanied with a full orchestra!

Manchester, London and Edinburgh are first to get gigs in late June and early July, with a full itinerary and guest singer list to be revealed in due course. Tickets go on sale this Friday (26th January).

Hmm...AYNIM is such a pit of negativity these days. I used to love it here.

And the idea of The Smiths "re-forming", but minus Steven & Johnny is simply delicious....

Seriously, it made me smile. I'll be acquiring tickets.

But AYNIM is another matter entirely.

Can't recall the last time anything round here made me smile, to be honest.

Oh, and it used to be such fun, you know?

Yes, yes - it'll be my fault, I daresay...

I think it has the potential to be great...I would like to see a clip before I commit, but really what’s not to like? Of course I'd like to see Morrissey and Marr as part of any reunion, but as the old saying goes...”half a bun is better than no bun at all!”

I think most people have said they wouldn't mind watching it. I personally don't want to watch it with an orchestra or without Rourke. What's the point? People are entitled to their opinions and I'm glad there's the freedom on here to say what you want. At least nobody here is dissing Morrissey every single day like they do on SoLow. You see more negativity on Morrissey's Official Facebook page.

I'd love to see the orchestra - anyone else - I'll leave that I think.

But TD is once again right - it absolutely made me chuckle - for a second I thought the unthinkable was happening. One can but dream...

ANDY ROURKE ISSUES STATEMENT ABOUT FALSE INVOLVEMENT IN CLASSICALLY SMITHS

It has been erroneously reported that ANDY ROURKE of The Smiths would be partaking in Classically Smiths which would reunite him with The Smiths drummer Mike Joyce and second guitarist Craig Gannon in an orchestral re-imagining of the iconic band's music.

At no point in time did Andy Rourke agree to participate or otherwise license or authorize the use of his name, likeness or any personal quotes in any manner in connection with this Classically Smiths project. The parties involved were advised of this on multiple occasions prior to them going to press. A press conference and press release were scheduled and serviced to the media without Andy Rourke’s or his team’s knowledge or approval. Any quotes by Andy Rourke that were attributed in any press materials in regards to the Classically Smiths project were not provided, authorized or otherwise approved by him or his representatives.

"I am deeply saddened that during the week of the death of my dear friend Dolores O'Riordan, that false statements are made on my behalf. At no time did I give my consent for anyone in connection with this Classically Smiths project to act on my behalf or my name and nothing was ever confirmed, approved or contracted by me or my team."
