This thread partially replaces the "Morrissey References in Print, Art, Music, Hairdo`s etc. Random media finds" which readers felt had too broad a scope. For Morrissey references in interviews and articles in print and online, please go to: http://allyouneedismorrissey.com/topic/4868395/1/

You can still look at the old References thread here: http://allyouneedismorrissey.com/topic/3814599/74/#new

Independent by nature
Scratch my name on your arm with a fountain pen (that means you really love me) was the name of an art exhibition taking place during the spring in the city where I live.
Partcipating artists: Carin Blücher, Michael Johansson, Mathias Kristersson,Petra Lindholm,
Jonas Liveröd, Caroline Mårtensson, Andreas Poppelier

GT:
"Storytelling is the core of this exhibition, maybe not so much the superficial as the underlying. Participating artists are working with visually powerful work containing subtle hints that give a slightly screwed or sublime interpretation of environmental and societal structures. Stories that for an initial consideration is not the most clearly marked, but as visualized in the conversation with the audience.

Scratch my name on your arm with a fountain pen showcases seven individual artists and an exhibition that would give the viewer a cluster of impressions. A visual clarity in the interaction with abstract concepts when it comes to meaning. Works that circulates around the sublime, and that does not give any concrete answers, but rather leaves the visitor with new questions."

german band kraftclub refers to moz in a song "no lovesong".

So sitz ich hier, mit Stift und Papier. Alleine. Nichts funktioniert.
Was ich schreibe ist scheiße. Banaler, austauschbarer Müll.
Morrissey hat schon alles gesagt was ich sagen will.
Und er redet Englisch und kennt dich nicht mal.
Und ist 52 Jahre, schlußendlich egal.
Weil eigentlich, auch wenn es peinlich ist,
wollte ich nur ein Liebeslied schreiben für dich.
translation
so Im sitting here alone with pen and paper, nothing happens.
everything i write is trite, replaceable trash
morrissey has already said everything i want to express
and he speaks english and doesnt even know you
and is 52 ,doesnt matter anyhow
cause actually even if Im embarrass myself
i just wanted to write a lovesong for you.

Edit / Add

A writer draws a couple of interesting associations between Morrissey and the musical style of several other musicians, some unlikely -

Thought I would share these 2 mash-up (and hoping this hasn't been posted yet):
- "This Charming Man" with the music of Lana Del Rey's "Video Games":
This Charming Video Game
- "Disappointed" with Jay-Z's "99 Problems":
99 Problems & Disappointments
Tell me what you think. I found both pretty clever.
